postheadericon The New Day

The sun is rising.
A new day is on the horizon.
The pinks of the sun
Mingle with the shadows from the moon
Creating the blue sky for the new day.

A reflective moment
of innermost thoughts
Gathering strength from the grace
And beauty provided for the new day.

Eyes closed, head bowed,
A murmured prayer.
A silent moment,
Thankful for the new day.

Eyes open and head raised
To see the glory around us
In all that God has made
Prepared for the new day.

postheadericon Puzzle of Life

Our lives are like puzzles.

Pieces fitting together perfecly.

Creating a rich tapestry of color.

Blending all to create a samless pattern.

Each puzzle piece represents a portion of our life. The 4 corner pieces are family, children, marriage and God. The end pieces in between are for our hopes and dreams creating the bond that holds together the corners and building the foundation to connect to the other pieces inside our world.

Our church family is holding the center together, providing fellowship, comfort and support.

Other pieces branch out into our community, volunteering or socializing, helping others fit into their puzzles.

In another direction, we piece together the education of our children -- teaching them academics, morality and ethics, and guiding them spiritually. Teaching them how to build and bond their own puzzles of life.

Even further around is our extended family -- parents and siblings, aunts and uncles, and cousins. We are caregivers to them all in one form or another, and we connect just like the puzzle pieces.

Some pieces share the history of our life, that part of us that made us who we are.

Other pieces spread throughout are the strangers that we meet, people passing through, maybe someone searching for the pieces of their puzzle.

We are constantly searching for new pieces that fit -- maybe connecting with our online buddies, or long lost friends.

Always sharing the pieces of our lives with another, proving Gods will intertwines his love for us each day.

On a daily basis, God guides our hands, searching for the pieces that fit, slipping them together and smoothing out the bumps and bulges making sure the pieces lay flat and snug.

One day, we will look at the completed picture and God will be standing by our side. The picture will be perfect and we will know we have arrived through God's will, guiding us so that in the end, we can see the complete tapestry of our life in all its glory, strongly holding together.

Take each new day, or each new event, or a new friend, and share the bonding of your puzzle with them.

postheadericon My Child's Hands

My child's hands,
So delicate and fair.
It doesn't matter
If they aren't a matching pair.

Her fingers are gentle
As they brush my cheek
To leave the imprint
Of a kiss so sweet.

My child's hands
Reach out to greet
With only a trace of shyness
To those she meets.

A crooked pinky
She's not aware
She doesn't hesitate
To wave in the air.

My child's hands
So small in mine.
As we walk together
Our steps keeping time.

Her fingers, smooth as silk,
Like fragile flower petals,
Rests softly in my hand.
So tender, sweet and gentle.

My Daughter's hands,
Precious gift given to me,
To care for, to cherish
A treasure to my heart will forever be.

postheadericon A Day to Remember (Short Story) Part 1

In the early morning light, filtering through the shade, Dacey wearily opened her eyes. She was not looking forward to getting out of bed on this particular day. It wasn’t really a day of special importance, but it was uncharacteristic of her not to hop out of the bed before the dawn, with a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She gave a half-hearted stretch, rolling from her back to her side and peeped at the clock. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she pushed up in a sitting position, and hung her head. Her long, auburn hair fell forward across her shoulders and she impatiently pushed the strands back behind her right ear.

Dacey enjoyed her life. She had a fantastic job, earning a good wage, and her co-workers were pleasant. She did not have a steady relationship with any one man, but she occasionally enjoyed an evening of dinner and a movie with friends. Divorced long ago, with a grown son, Dacey had settled in her mind that she was not in the market for a permanent, long term relationship. She had single friends, and married friends, and enjoyed their company equally. She felt they enjoyed her company as well.

Dacey had not slept well, which was unusual for her. Sleeping a good eight hours at night had always been something she could count on. She would fall asleep the minute her head hit the pillow at night. Her friend, Felicia, on the other hand, might get 3-4 hours sleep at night. Felicia was a quiet, unassuming person, but she had a sparkle about her that made you notice her. She was intelligent, but not very outspoken and was sometimes regarded as a recluse. So, Felicia’s brain ticked constantly, rolling with ideas and thoughts and plans, and she had a harder time getting her brain to shut off at night. Now Dacey understood how Felicia felt every morning. She would definitely be viewing her in a different light from now on.
She shook her head, as if to clear the cobwebs, and rubbed her face with the palms of her hands. Dacey stood up and headed in the direction of the bathroom to start her shower.

postheadericon I Dream...

I dream…

I wake up in a room,
Lit only by the shine of a moon.
A room cold and bare,
As if no one had seen to its care.

I dream…

I walk to the door
My shoeless feet tiptoeing across the floor.
There is the door knob – do I dare?
The door glides open, but no one is there.

I dream…

I step over the threshold
And I’m no longer cold.
Not looking back, I step forward.
Not knowing what I am headed toward.

I dream…

I am walking on a narrow path.
No sign of anyone who had been there last.
There are no shapes or shadows in sight.
Only a clear, but starless night.

I dream…

I stumble and fall
But I stand back up, straight and tall.
Ahead, a fork in the road, I see.
Barely visible in the dawn, a choice for me.

I dream…

I sit, I watch, and I wait.
My future is ahead, but I don’t want to be late.
The wrong path chosen, dissolves my hopes.
Choosing the right path, releases my yoke.

I dream…

My decision is made.
The path I choose no longer fades.
The horizon, my eyes seek,
Searching for the mountain peak.

I dream…

I am gliding along the path I’ve chosen.
Time no longer seems to be frozen.
My heart beats steady and true.
Colors begin to shift in brilliant hues.

I dream…

I see the path widening ahead,
And a voice in my heart said
“You have chosen well, my child, continue on
And you will never be alone.”

I dream…

Of walking the miles of life,
Less the burden of stress and strife.
Knowing the joy in my heart
Will never again depart.

postheadericon I Am Taking a Stand

Christian Icons

Today, I am tired and weary.
My head aches from every day care.
My eyes are hot and bleary.
My heart has taken all it can bear.

I pray for peace to overcome me.
I pray for my eyes to open wide.
I pray for wisdom to see.
I pray for God by my side.

I am taking a stand
To be guided by
God’s divine hand
and wipe my eyes dry.

My hands uplifted high
Thankful and in praise
God’s mercy on me is nigh
Glory to God to the end of my days.

© 6/22/09 Karen ~Georgia Angel

Psalm 6:1-10 (NIV)

1O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.

2 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint;
O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.

3 My soul is in anguish.
How long, O LORD, how long?

4 Turn, O LORD, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.

5 No one remembers you when he is dead.
Who praises you from the grave?

6 I am worn out from groaning;
all night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.

7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.

8 Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the LORD has heard my weeping.

9 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;
the LORD accepts my prayer.

10 All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed;
they will turn back in sudden disgrace.

Isaiah 55:8-11 (NIV)

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.

9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Hebrews 4:14-16 (NIV)

14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

postheadericon Once Upon a Time

Lost my mind Pictures, Images and Photos

Once upon a time,
I thought I had a mind.
I’ve lost it somewhere.
It’s disaappeared in thin air.
I’ve looked on the street,
I even looked up the creek.
Do you know the place,
That’s “safe”, just in case?
Oh where, did it go?
If you find it, please let me know.

A whisper in the air
Nudging a wisp of my hair
Gentle words enter my soul
Everlasting thoughts to make me whole
Love fills my heart
Showering my life for a new, fresh start.

postheadericon Walk on the Beach

As I wander on the beach
In the sun’s fading light
My mind refreshes
And my senses delight.

I stop to gaze
On the horizon afar
And try to reach out
For the first bright star.

I close my eyes
to feel the breeze
Stirring my hair
And feeling at ease.

I dig my toes
In the sand deep
Where the days warmth
Begins to seep.

My ears turn to hear
Waves rolling on shore
And rolling out again
My cares to be no more.

I find a quiet place
To watch for the moon
And settle in to listen
To the ocean’s unceasing tune.

Settling over the waves
Is the moon light ray
Sending away my cares
To a watery grave.

I can now return
To my home and rest
In blissful slumber
And feel ever so blessed.

postheadericon Pretty Hat

Pretty hat, white gloves.
All dressed up
to greet the Spring.

See the wildflowers
dressed in orange
dancing in the sun?

Frilly dress, pink shoes.
Twirling and laughing
oh, what fun

postheadericon Dreams of Love

My empty heart for so long
Fearful to ever beat strong
Seeming to always fill of echoes
Of love lost and in repose.

Dreams of a wondrous lover,
In my mind’s eye do hover,
A man shining with love’s light
Loving arms to hold me tight.

Honest, trustworthy, and loyal
Make me feel as a princess royal
Gazing into his eyes
Seeing my soul therein lies.

Hearing whispers of romance
My body is in a trance
Kisses rain ever so gently
Blood pounding so intently.

Awakening with a shiver
Passion fire like a river
Dying out like the wind
My heart empty, once again.

postheadericon Promise of Love

Two lonely hearts beating out of time
When we met, your heartbeat matched mine.
In words to each other, We dared to confess,
Wonder and surprise that a true love so blessed
Has our hearts now and forever intertwined.
Our reason for living, for our souls to exist,
The promise of our future, So hard to resist.
In sunshine and in starlight, a life together,
Always in our heart, Today, tomorrow, forever.
In breathless anticipation of sealed with a kiss.
We share dreams and hopes, express joy and delight,
A lifetime between saying good morning and good night.
The language of love notes communicate honor and respect
And it brings to mind, a reason to connect
Bestowing a day of remembrance smiles and brilliant light.
Poems that have been read, the singing of words in a song,
Gives emphasis that we will always truly belong
One to another, seeing in the shining glow of our eyes
The reflection of the heavenly clouds and skies.
Another promise of a precious gift ever lifelong.
You write your vow of your life and love to me
In return, I'll share this walk with thee.
No more to dream of longing for love
Because you are the one I only think of.
With no better word to reflect on, than "we".

postheadericon My Sweet Leah Rose

She runs to me with arms open wide

Just as fast as her little legs can go

Squealing with delight “Mama, Mama”

As if it had been days, we had been apart, instead of hours.

I swing her up in my arms so that we see eye to eye,

And she throws her arms around my neck, squeezing me tight.

Her face beams with a smile so wide, stars twinkle in her eyes.

I hear her sweet voice murmur “Mama, I love you”.

I whisper back, “I love you, too, My Sweet Leah Rose.”

postheadericon 9-11 American Remembrance

9-11 American Remembrance

Our darkest tragedy
Our deepest fear
Our loved ones lost
Our burden to bear.

We now stand guard
Free, brave and tall
Sheer strength of will
We will not fall.

Our soldiers now in battle
With faith we pray
Their life they pledge
Kept safe each day.

We remember this time
With flags flying high
We keep the faith.
This nation shall not die!
